Kings Canyon National Park, California.

A week ago ago I finally got the chance to spend a couple nights in Dusy Basin. What an amazing place. Hard to believe, but it is definitely the most beautiful place I have ever visited -- regardless of type of landscape. I was treated with beautiful conditions: crisp, clear mornings; afternoons with threatening clouds; and quiet evenings. And the threatening clouds never released a drop until I was back at the car

This was during the second evening at a small, unnamed lake below Isosceles Peak. Shot with a 5D3 (rented) and a 2-stop ND.

Comments and critiques greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking!

Very clean image, Mat, the clouds billowing over Isosceles Peak really gives the impression that the mountain is smoking. Cool

Very nice flow to this, I like the way you get lead into the image to check things out. There is excellent detail in the shadow areas plus the light contrast combined with the cloud over the peak complete the image very well, way to go.

What a matching foreground! That cloud is also in a great spot.

Impressive peak. Good inclusion on the foreground, it mimics the peak well.

I like the echoing shapes in the fg rock and the cloud, they really direct my eyes to the peak. Nice water, too. My only little nit would be the left side feeling a bit cut off all photos end while the world goes on and on. Nice work

The symmetry here makes for a very strong presentation. The light is very nicely handled.

I can't imagine why this peak is called Isosceles Peak. Seriously, though - spectacular photo. Beautiful light and a great composition w/ the FG rocks pointing right into the scene. Just fantastic.

It's a great photo with great processing. I'm one that does not like everything centered in the frame. I'd love to see a bit more to the left or right to make it more off-balance.

I really like this, Mat. The foreground is a perfect lead-in and the cloud accentuates the peak nicely.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Starts to make up for the pair of Asolo boots that decided to fall apart on me during the trip :frown:

Nancy and Wick, it seems like you guys have related comments about the comp. All I can say is that I pre-visualized this comp without knowing what type of foreground I would find. However, I have a horizontal comp looking more to the left -- that I plan on processing next -- which may appeal to you guys more.

Love the repeating triangles in your comp Mat. I keep wishing to see more of the sunlight on the main peak. Beautiful shot.
