Crystal C

Like the strokes of a paint brush made by an artist the size of an ant, this photo of a vitamin C crystal was taken through a microscope using polarized light. I took this many years ago when I was a student and had access to a nice microscope!
Scanned in from 4x5 transparency.

How unique. This totally has the feel of an abstract watercolor painting with layers of washes - VERY cool! Would have never been able to guess it was a vitamin C crystal.

I made up several vitamin c slides at the time and this one came out very different than the others.

Bill,... I enjoy the festive feel to this. Great colors. My first reaction was; "what did he do in Photoshop to make this image". Then I read your description. Cool...This is the kind of image that should be entered into the Nikon Small World contest. I love having this image in the PA gallery because of the nature of the image. I think you should also post this in the Macro/Close-up gallery to spread it around. Love the vibrant water color feel of this :toast:

This has great impact, interesting technique in uncharted territory..at least for me.
Looks just like an abstract watercolor painting to me Bill, my hat's off to both you and the artist "ant" for a job well done
