Another fairly large crop, but I think it held up fairly well. We finally have summer here and it was getting pretty bright even by 9:15, but the sun didn't get above the trees to illuminate this area until after 8:00.

1DIV, 500mm ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f8, 1/800, iso 640, Av mode with no compensation. Cropped to 3.8 MP. Normal processing in CS5. Taken near the edge of a Garry Oak riparian area in the south Puget Sound region.

Comments and criticisms are always most appreciated.

Thank you,

Cute little guy, the beak open gives it a kind of fun-spirited look that I really like. Nice sharp detail - the crop does seem to hold up well. Only wish his head was turned a bit more towards you - but some things we can't control.

Hi Dennis

I also like the pose of the bird. I find my eye drawn to the bright moss on the lower left though. To me it seems to end very abruptly. A slightly looser crop might include the moss to it's end point (I think, as I see it coming back in towards the twig).
