Screaming Eaglet

This past Sunday was the first time we saw this year's offspring near the nest since it fledged. The juvie hung around quite awhile on this tall tree, vocalizing occasionally. A 500mm or better would have been nice (hopefully soon), but this was at 300mm.

The light hitting the golden talons always seems a bit bright on younger eagles, as here. Quite a large crop, hopefully not overdone. D90, ISO-500, 1/800th, f-5.6, etc. Had the time to try many different settings, this one seemed to be one of the better. Thanks for any C&C!

Best seen in the larger image. On my screen, when viewed large, the photo ends up cropped on the top and right side, which I thought helped direct more attention at the eagle, but still gave it room in front. It looks as if you caught the eagle opening it's mouth which creates a good sense of action; on the negative side it makes the face a bit soft. I hear you about the 500 mm-maybe someday. :toast:
