Bark Eddies

The patterns of the bark on this tree reminded me of eddies in a stream.
Canon Digital Rebel 300D, Canon 100mm macro lens, ISO 100, 1/4 sec F/8, Aperture priority
Desaturated 80% to remove nearly all color, of which there were only slight tints from sunlight and some minute algae or lichen in the original. I thought it was more dramatic as monochrome.

Wonderful texture in this image, Paul! I like the comp with the diagonal curvy lines. The irregular circular areas really add an interesting touch; they do look like eddies in a stream. Nice find and great for the theme.

Paul,

This is very cool - with your choice of composition, it sure does look like eddies in a stream. I think you made a good choice to desaturate too, because the story really is in the lines and textures, and the B&W brings those out.

Very nice swirling bark. Does feel like water. The monochromatic treatment emphasizes the lines and swirls very well.
