Willow Flycatcher

At least I'm pretty sure that's what it is, given our location and its vocalization.

1DIV, 500mm ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs, f5.6, 1/2000, iso 6440, Av mode with -1/3 compensation, cropped to 3.8 MP (more than I'd like but it didn't come any closer and I had a pit between us that prevented my movement). Normal processing in CS5. Taken on July 26th at 7:03 pm in a shrubby area of the local county nature preserve.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Looks like a Willow Flycatcher to me.

Nicely composed with a nice clean background and good feather detail.
Love that small catch light in its eye.

Well done.

Oh, there is so much to love here. The evening light on the bird is wonderful, the great details - I always enjoy seeing a flycatcher's "whiskers," the perfectly muted background... just an all-around lovely image. And thanks for posting, have never seen this species.

Very nice. It is difficult to get an empid in a clean composition such as this.

Cool - a clean BG - which, as Richard mentions, is nearly impossible. A great "curious" pose, nice perch and very complimentary BG -
Very well-done!!

I agree with the ID. A very nice shot of a difficult Empid. Sweet light; good detail.

Nice! The background is like a watercolour painting and the sharpness on the bird is perfect.

Wonderful shot Dennis, perch, pose, background all help up very well for the crop and you have good detail where it counts, I like the eye contact as well, way to go.

Nice inquisitive look on this little guy, Dennis. Looks like he is really in the spotlight here, and he stands out from that dark bg very well.
