Festive Moon

I know I have not been around much lately. This past month, I have been fasting in the month of Ramadan, and this past Saturday went out as usual every month to find and photograph the new moon. We did not see it on Saturday, but none the less it was seen in deep southern Texas so Sunday was the Festival of Breaking Fast. At the end of the day I decided to go out and photograph what I could not see the day before. I was not disappointed.

Your thoughts on this one. I hope my moon photos are not becoming a bore. Each time I see this thin sliver of light, I get such a rush of excitement.

Nikon D2x, Nikon 400mm, f5.6, 0.3 sec, ISO 100.

Your comments much appreciated.

Not boring at all Youssef. I love the purity and simplicity of your comp. Being above the cloud layer and the focus on the moon gives me a strong spiritual feeling. The radiating reds and yellows are also quite hypnotic and soothing. Beautiful shot.

Even while fasting (or after your fast?) you've created a visual (and spiritual) feast! The fog (right?) feels like it could be floating heavenly clouds. Overall color and processing looks great. Love it - great job. btw - no good photograph is ever a bore.

Youssef,

I never tire of your moon images. In fact, you always have me on the lookout now and you always come to mind when I see that first glimpse.

This one is a simple and beautiful capture. Great color - good saturation and not too over the top.

Beautiful Youssef. The clouds/fog add so much to this. Fully saturated, but not over the top. Excellent work.

Anything but boring. The color gradient is wonderful, the moon sliver is a perfect anchor, and the cloud layer below is magic.
