March of the Purples

This is back from the early spring, I found it digging through my files...I liked the soft, dark feel and especially the limited depth of field.

Nikon D200, 60mm, f/4, 1/100, ISO 250.

All comments and critiques appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Jaymes

Lovely, Jaymes. This has a dream-like effect.

Interesting abstract. The pink blush looks really good. I wish the forward petal tips are a little better define to anchor the image.

Jaymes - Nicely done. Love the dreamy feel and the pink wash throughout the frame. There is just enough in focus petal edges in the frame to engage my interest.

Love the purple wash in this photo, Jaymes! It really has a soft, dreamy feel to it. Love the rich colors and shadings. I keep thinking it looks like a moose head (although with pink antlers?!). Sorry, I see "things" everywhere it seems. Nice image!

Really nice "out of the box" image Jaymes. This just keeps my eyes in the frame. Great work.

I wish that the blur on the right was a tad more subtly Jaymes, but the color is great and the limited DOF is really nice too.

interesting image, I like the sharp edges against the soft BG. Nice colour combination as well.

Gorgeous Jaymes! Your style is very similar to mine. I notice that you pick a small subject, but then you choose a tiny area, of that subject to highlight and then use a very shallow dof to make the rest, create this artistic quality to the image. The entire subject, becomes the beauty that simply accentuates this very tiny area, that has caught your eye. Not sure if I have explained that very well, but when I look at your images, I know exactly what you are thinking. :)

I see now, why you liked my image, "Orange Glow" :)

I have had a lot of flack for images like this - unconventional, breaking the rules. I like it though!! :jump:

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

Stephen, you put it better than I could have myself! I see what you mean about your style, it is similar, and very good! I like it!
