It's now steam threshing bee time here on the Northern Plains. People bring their old farming equipment and run demonstrations. One of the bigger shows is in Butterfield, MN. They have a regular grounds set up there, including an original log cabin. The cabin had a nice fire going and the re-enactors were cooking a meal. I took a few shots with my 1951 Rolleiflex and some HP5 film. I like the soft look from this vintage 75mm Tessar. I shot it around f4, and used a slow shutter speed to better catch the sparks from the fire. Most farming states have these kinds of threshing shows, and there is a wide variety of things to photo.

I like the choice of shutter speed, the fire is very appealing. I also think the use of B&W is especially appropriate considering the event. I would wish for a little more detail in the darker areas.

Love it. Especially how the fire looks. Not so sure about the "meal," though…

At the bottom of the frame there is a little silver cup. In the cup was baby formula, being warmed up. The couple who were the homestead re-enactors had a baby along.
