The second of the nearby juvie kites pair.
Great fun watching these two - confident fliers, but still very awkward landings

D800
500mm
Subject dist: 50m
1/1000 sec, f/11
Mode: Tv
Metering: Spot
ISO: 800
White balance: Auto
Flash: Off
A very large crop - can't get away with any more, so please no comments about a tighter crop! I wish!

For those who have asked "HOW big a crop??" , here is the original of another shot in this landing series:
The D800 is amazing.

Sandy, I think you should consider keeping this small in the frame... :jump:

Seriously, I am having camera envy! 152 feet away, and still an acceptable level of detail.

Very nice Sandy. I like the contrast with the blue sky. Wow it's nice to have all those extra pixels.

If you look at the last shot I posted, that is almost full frame. So you are probably about the same distance. Nice, Sandy. I would dial in a little minus EV to control the whites, but looks like you did pretty well here. I also notice the difference between shooting with the 1.4x tc or without, that the shots are sharper without. I also tried 1.7x and 2x, but always better without anything. :toast:

Great way to show the crop Sandy. Another nice image. Is this one all by itself or are there other fledges in the area? It was a great year for kites, wasn't it?

Great shot Sandy. Excellent detail for such a large crop. I do not see any noise at ISO 800

Sweet, Sandy. Great pose and nice and sharp. The curved branch makes for a nice composition.

Great shots. You and the 800 are becoming quite a pair.
