After veiwing Wayne's night time images taken on a camping trip, I thought I might share one of my own. There is an indescribable peace as you sit by the dying campfire and listen to the sounds of the night... Comments & critiques welcome!

Nice idea. I often take campfire photos while camping, but never seem to include my tent -- probably because it's too far from the fire to be lit well. (And it's a LOT smaller than your tent.) Is there a lantern lighting the tent in this shot? Good idea, whatever is providing the light. Excellent job matching the campfire glow with the light on the tent and the sky. The flying sparks add a nice touch, too.

Works as an intimate view of the campsite. However wonder if a wider view would give a better sense of the surrounding wilderness.

Thanks everyone!
Wayne: there was a lantern on at the neighboring campsite which provided the lighting on the front of the tent. (This campsite was more civilized and close-nit than I prefer).
Kah: I did do a wider shot but it included the 'neighbor's' vehicle.
Stuart: I tried some other comps but this was the best I could come up with.

I know (as most of us do) and relish that peace you describe. There's no better serenade in the world than frogs and crickets at night. This captures that feeling nicely.
