Cooper’s Hawk (Accipiter cooperii)

Place: Boyce Thompson Arboretum, Superior, AZ
Date: July 10, 2012, 8:00 am
Equipment: Nikon D300, Nikkor AF-S 300/2.8 & TC20E III (2x), Gitzo 1325, RRS BH-55, sidekick
ISO 800, aperture priority spot metered, 1/250th @ f/8
Raw, PS CS3 on Mac, 83% of frame
Not set up, not baited, no cloning, no noise reduction

Another in my series of a juvie Cooper's Hawk at Boyce Thompson Arboretum. I almost didn’t notice this bird as I concentrated on the other juvie sitting in plain view.

Honest critiques requested; all comments appreciated. Large versoin provided as always.

Wonderful pose blended in with the branch like that, Richard. It adds a lot of interest to the image.

Very cool capture, Richard. Love the remaining hatchling feathers still showing.

Interesting perspective as it looks like the hawk is laying down on the branch. I like that intense look the hawk is giving, what a wonderful find.

Most unusual/unique pose, one can see how you might have missed em' Rich.
The face/eyes are clear and sharp, great interest.
