Staring Contest, October 1st 2010

This butterfly, was happy to pose for me, while I snapped off a few shots. :) It was like he/she was staring right through me.

Minor Brightness and Contrast adjustments.

Camera Panasonic DMC-TZ3
Exposure 0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture f/4.9
Focal Length 46 mm
ISO Speed 100

I was asked to post the camera settings, for my photos. I could not afford an expensive camera body and macro equipment, so I built an attachment for my camera, that included cardboard tubing and lots of duct tape. The above settings, may or may not make any sense since the attachment changes just about everything. :)

Hi Stephen,

First let me welcome you to NPN and to the Close-up/macro gallery. This is a great first post. Very cool. Love the eyes. Truly amazing that you got this close, especially head on. Striking colors as well. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work. :toast: :wavey:

Can't believe this guy let you get this close!
This is quite good - great colours and love that eye.
Needs a bit of sharpening- - what editing program do you use?

Thanks Sandy :)

I use Photoshop CS2, but don't really know how to use it all that well. I adjust for contrast and brightness, but that is about it.

I asked a question, earlier this evening in one of the forums, regarding the best practice for saving JPEG to upload. I find that the images, always look a little softer after uploaded, than when I see it in Photoshop.

I like these colors a lot, Stephen. Excellent perspective, too, and those green eyes are really striking.

Well captured, and welcome to NPN! :wavey:
