Pelican in flight

Taken from Naples pier a few days ago. Even though they are such a common bird, I find pelicans entertaining to watch. Lots were in a feeding frenzy the afternoon this was taken.

Nikon D700
70-200 VR
200 mm
1/800 F3.5
ISO 100

Lightroom crop, sharpening, lighting.

Thanks for any comments or suggestions. I learn a lot here.

A good capture; looks like the bird is lining up to land or dive. Good depth of field for f3.5; never easy across the long wingspan. Unfortunately, the head turn has put the side of the bird's face and eye in dark shadow. If it were mine, I'd try some selective brightening in that area. There's also a slight halo along the underside of the bill, probably a result of sharpening, and easily removed.

Jim has voiced my comments. A little extra work will put this one over the top. :toast:

Nice detail in the wings and the background looks good. I'd like to see more detail around the eye.

Great DOF and sharpness. Looks a bit dark as posted.
