Sunrise light photographed above Mt. Rainier and a beautiful meadow of sub-alpine wildflowers.

Nikon D800, 14-24, f/16, no filters

Thanks for looking! If you care, it looks a little better on the dark background of my website. (print URL above)

very pretty. not 100% convinced by 50/50 comp - the sky is where i'd be prepared to lose something.

Thanks, Stuart. I deliberated about that before posting, and I think I made the wrong choice. This feels much better.

Nice shot Alex! The layers and textures in the FG are amazing, and I think your vingette is nice and subtle. Hope you're doing well!

Nice shot Alex, really like the soft light, and I like the peaceful mood it carries.

Beautiful image. Great colors and really sweet light. I agree that the 50/50 comp is a little static and taking some out of the sky would add to an already great image.

Wonderful color throughout the scene. I agree with the crop a little off the sky to help with the 50/50 comp, but still very nice regardless.

Nice mixture of colors, and the processing looks great. I had the same thoughts as some of the others regarding the nearly 50/50 comp. I would have liked to see a bit more room underneath the flowers. As suggested, I think a little crop off the top is all it needs. :toast:

Hi Alex,
Nice place and picture!!
As said before, I would emphasized the meadow with the flowers covering a wider area in the photo, just tilting the camera down. In any case, it is a good shot!

Some great light and color Alex. I agree with Zack re more flowers below would have been a nice balance, but the beauty of the scene is certainly not diminished by your comp. The texture in the center right clouds maybe seem a little flat... probably from trying to keep the red channel in check? Sweet shot.

Beautiful flower field. Another vote for cropping some of the sky.

Real nice, Alex!! Classic Tahoma. Personally--id crop a bit of the sky. Hard to crop the nice pink--i know, but thirds would be extremely powerful here, and trump everything else. The fg is the main player here--the sky just plays a supporting role. :wavey:
Oh--i just read the comments, i must be mistaken, cause no one ever agrees with me

Very nice image Alex. I agree with the others about the comp. A little less sky would make this one perfect.

Really nice, man. Does indeed look a bit better on your website with the dark background. It looks like from the thumbnail this was originally 2:3, but I'm loving the 4:5 crop you switched to. Wonderful foreground cluster, which is nicely separated from the rest of the carpet due to your perspective. Wish we'd been shooting lupine together this night, instead of the Tatoosh that evening!
