World in a Drop

World in a Drop, October 20th 2010

Sometimes, the big world around us appears blurry and hard to figure out. Often, when we focus on the simple and small things, that world becomes clear :)

Dew drop, on a blade of grass.

Minor Brightness and Contrast adjustments.

Panasonic DMC-TZ3
Focal Length 46mm
Shutter Speed 1/160 sec
Aperture f/4.9
ISO/Film 100

I was asked to post the camera settings, for my photos. I could not afford an expensive camera body and macro equipment, so I built an attachment for my camera, that included cardboard tubing and lots of duct tape. The above settings, may or may not make any sense since the attachment changes just about everything. :)

I have a look to your portfolio and website and you are very creative. I love the combination of colours and the non-standard" composition of your pictures. If you are currently “new to photography” as you said, I can not imagine your pictures in some years!!!
Congratulations

Thank you so much Joana! I greatly appreciate, the encouragement. : )

I started in photography in 2010, during a rather difficult time in my life. I hope to still be shooting photos in a few years time. I will have to get a better camera though, if I hope to really increase the quality of my images. For the last 2 years, I have been using a Panasonic DMC-TZ3. A few months ago, it was stolen, so it could be some time, before I am able to get another.

Thank you again :)

Very nice. I love drop reflections and this one is a stand out.

Really well captured. The size of the drop is impressive, as is the detail inside. Normally I might question such a centered subject, but this works very well to convey the "world in a drop" theme. My only suggestion would be to consider darkening the entire URC, but this is a very minor suggestion.

Very neat, Stephen. I like the crazy grasses in the drop.
