Winter Blooms

Winter Blooms, January 14th 2012

I was really missing, my floral photography, this past winter. I went in search, of anything, I could find and this was it. Two blooms, that were surviving, a cold, southern Ontario winter. :)

Not my normal mix of bright colour, but I rather liked this one. :)

Minor brightness and Contrast adjustments.

Panasonic DMC-TZ3
Focal Length 46mm
Shutter Speed 1/250 sec
Aperture f/4.9
ISO/Film 100

I was asked to post the camera settings, for my photos. I could not afford an expensive camera body and macro equipment, so I built an attachment for my camera, that included cardboard tubing and lots of duct tape. The above settings, may or may not make any sense since the attachment changes just about everything. :)

Interesting idea and technically well done. Not so sure it is my type of image but I can see what drew you to it. During the winter I visit the floral department at my local grocery store quite often. Many reasonably priced floral bouquets that give me a subject and also cheer the household with their beauty.

The image has a very strong graphic look to it, Stephen. Obviously, this could be converted to black and white, but I like the last little gasp of brown color. Nicely composed and presented here.

Very well seen, Stephen. I might give the subjects just a bit more room.
