I found this Great Egret fishing quite successfully. He grabbed this fish which was a little problomatic to swallow and it was clear it was flopping around inside the egret by his behavior after swallowing it.

Nikon D300 1/800 F6.3 ISO 1250 Nikon 200-400 w 1.4 teleconverter
A little NR added due to the ISO.

I like this with the bird in his environment.

Comments and critiques please. Always learning.

Nice catch for both of you Andrew.
Great natural habitat and low light work :toast:

Andrew,

Great moment of capture. The NR has taken a life of its own here. Selective NR without bird would improve this Andrew.

Great action! Image is nice and sharp, but looks a tad bright on my monitor.

Andrew,
Great action shot and I like the head on position of the Egret, It really gives a good capture of the fish. I am curious about the fishing line hanging there, any other shots that explain it? :toast:

Nice shot. The bird looks great and you have great detail on "dinner". I use the exact same camera, lens and TC combo that you do.
