Lighthouse & Startrails

Ploumanach, France

The lighthouse is quite popular with the few photographers that have photographed Bretagne, although I don't recall ever seeing any night shots. What constitutes a long exposure is pretty subjective but this one was over 90 minutes in a single frame.

Wow, this worked out really nice. Great colors and what a wonderful mood this has. I like the misty look in the foreground with the red glow and the star trails look great, kind of the perfect balance for this scene. I'm not a big star trails fan but it sure worked well here. That is a long exposure and I wonder if you had to block the light from the lighthouse itself part of the time to keep it from getting to bright? Very nice work Kah!

I am not a big fan of star trails, but here it works really well with the lighthouse lying on the orbit of your outer star trail... the red light reflection on the water adds tons of mood...

The red glow is beautiful Kah Kit. The larger version better shows the subtle light on the rocks.

Better than the average star trail shot! I think the light and this composition would look great with almost any sky treatment. :toast:

I like the trails, the light house, and the smoothened water in the foreground. However, I think that the rock in the lower left corner is a bit too large and dominant.

Yes, Basil. I have considered cloning it out.
