This is my first flight shot which didn't need cropping. He came past me like a rocket & so close that that I was certain I didn't get him all in the frame. Canon 7D, 400mm 5.6lens,f7.1,ISO400,1/3200sec. Sunlight. 100% of original.

It is always a thrill when a flight shot succeeds like this. Well done! Just a small, small nit—the shadows on the wings have too much cyan in them, at least on my monitor. A gentle removal of about 50% of the cyan/blue, a little more brightness and yellow and you have a wall hanger!

Nice capture. The dark background accentuates the egret. The whites feel a bit dark and as noted a blue cast in the wings. The brightest white is around 209. You can safely push that up a bit and still maintain detail. Simplest way to remove the blue cast is with a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Select the blue channel and push the saturation to the left. Well worth it for this fine image.

Very cool, Roger. Congrats on getting it in the frame. Really difficult when they're that close. Looks like a good job on the exposure and dof.

Really, really nice shot, and I love the white against the dark background. Very sharp and crisp.

Nice flight shot. I really like the wing position. To me the whites do look a little "grayed down" and I would try to brighten them up a little.

For me the bird is too dark. I understand wanting detail in the whites, but when the whites become grey they need to go back the other way. Great egrets are very much white, so I would strive to lighten this bird quite a bit if it were mine.

Great reflexes to get this all in the frame. Nice position to show off wing feathers. I'd go lighter with this.

Very nice full frame shot Roger, I especially like the view of he wing feathers in this.
Excellent details, just bring the whites up a bit & you're home free.
Well done :toast: :toast:
