Not sure what little flower produced this seed head but it caught my eye. I know the bg is busy but I like the patchwork quality and the contrast it provides. Does it work for anyone else? Thanks for looking.

Works for me, Sandy. the bg is dark enough that it doesn't detract from the seed head at all. Excellent dof in the subject.

Sandy:
The bg is okay, not distracting. I might crop tighter though to bring more attention to the flower.

Sandy, the bg works well for me with the subject. I really like the overall abstract design. I would crop some off the top and a little off the sides make the image symmetrical. To me, this image is all about the symmetrical design of the seed head and the patterned uniform bg, so I'd make it as symmetrical as possible to emphasize the natural design. It looks like that's what you were doing, but I'd equalize the bg on all four sides. That's just my opinion, of course.

I think it works with the great contrast to BG that sets it off so well.
Both Gary & Scott have made some great suggestions for improvement, enough said.
Well done! :toast:

I like the contrast between the white spikes and the spent blooms. Your dof choice looks good with the bg nicely oof and not distracting, but I'd like to see the topmost parts sharp.

Hi Nancy :wavey: Yes!! Scott said it so well. Love the delicately structured lines, and symmetry of the subject
