Birthday rose
by Rob Graham
I have been using a borrowed extension tube for the last couple of days, testing it before buying my own set. I was photographing some of the flowers in our yard at lunch today when I noticed this rose shining from the shadows of the bush. Yellow roses are my wife's favorite flowers. I took a few different photos of the rose, then went in and processed up this version. I added a slight glow which softened the flower a little more than it already was. I then sent the flower to my wife, who was delighted to receive a yellow rose for her birthday today :). 7D, ISO 400, f/11, 1/1000, 124mm with 25mm extension tube, small crop. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

8 commentsI particularly like the angled, slightly looking outside composition for this Rose. The shadows give it some depth and soft/glow treatment makes it look glamorous.
The angle lighting really brings out the texture and depth in this rose. Beautiful capture. What is the dark 'U' at the top edge of the petal, looks a little ought.
