I found this tiny spider on a flower petal yesterday. 7D, ISO 400, f/11, 1/800, 37mm extension tube, 70mm, ~75% of full frame

Looks like it is in attack mode. Good eye. The comp is good as well, except I am not sure that including the flower center serves any purpose.

Good eye to see this white on white spider, and good detail on the spider. I also think you did well in the angle you shot this. I am not bothered by the flower center, but cropping the image to a square format might be interesting.

Phillip, I originally included the center of the flower to give a sense of place and reduce the amount of cropping. I also couldn't find a balanced crop at this ratio without the center.

scott, good call on the square crop. Thanks for the suggestion.

I really like the sharp lines in the petals and the clarity of the spider. It's a tough call on the crop. I like the original slightly better because there's more eye movement from the flower center out to the spider. I could see cropping about half of the bottom petal, to create more of a rectangle that would emphasize the lines in the petals.

Must have been hard to spot this spider. Looks like he could blend in well with the petals. Wonderful detail. I really like the cropped version.

Hi Rob :wavey: Perfectly captured :jump: love it!!! I would only crop the bottom, but cropping is very subjective

I love the composition and the detail on the spider. The second crop also looks good. So many possibilities out of one image.

Interesting and excellent. I like the square crop, with shadows of the spider's legs becoming a more important part of the composition.
