This male gibbon was intently watching the participants in a zoo photo workshop. He even seemed to pose for them. I was considering converting this to B&W, any thoughts?

The eyes make it... leave the color (and life) in them. I have many pictures of these little fellows, but none as personal as yours. Love it!

What I like about this John are the hidden, yet visible eyes; this creates a sense of mystery. I think converting this to B&W may be a could choice, particularly if you decide to bring out a bit more shadow detail. Looking at the larger version, I would say this could benefit from some sharpening.

The colour version works well for me, but I think B & W works well too. Lovely portrait.

I like the contemplative look in the eyes. Fine image.

I quite like this portrait! The composition you chose is great. I agree with Vincent about the sharpening. Not sure about the B&W...I think it would work either way, so whatever you want  !

Hi John,

Nice pose - the gibbon seems very "contemplative" here. You know, I don't think I'd convert this to B&W. With the exception of the eye, this shot is so monochromatic anyway that I think you'd gain little by going B&W. To me the thing that stands out is the colour in the eye (in an image that's otherwise devoid of much colour) and you'd lose this with a B&W conversion. Agree with the previous comments on sharpening on this one...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

I'd convert to B&W and apply some subtle sharpening and iIt looks like you picked up some colour fringing which I would correct.

Certainly looks like this guy is contemplating something.
