Scott, this thing was not shy at all. When I'm handholding with this 60mm macro I just keep looking through the viewfinder and step ever closer to the subject and snap away. In this case it cost me alot of scratches on the ole legs as I was stepping through my wife's flowers and not paying attention to what I wandered through.
