RT humming bird

Was not looking for hummers, but found myself where 3 were duelling it out over an arbor covered with gourds. They chose to land on the old wire of the arbor. I liked the delicate small bird and the rough old wire. Moderator move to Man and Nature if you think it should be there.

I've shot hummers on similar perches and I like your thoughts on delicate vs rough wire. I'd have likely gone with less space on top and more wire showing below - if you are going to include it in the frame you might as well make the most of it.

Hi John: I think this image is just fine in Avian. The main subject to me is the hummer. It is interesting to see the small delicate hummer on a pretty tough old wire. Nice back pose. Maybe a touch more selective sharpening on the head. Nice capture.

Beautiful colors in this image. I agree with the suggestion to selectively sharpen the back of the head a bit more. The pose of the bird is really nice.

Good eye contact and wonderful background work for me, I also would agree just a little more sharpening on the hummer and you have a winner.
