I assume that is frost on the trees. You captured it nicely. The trees really stand out from the background and the composition is good.

Thanks Richard for the comment. The backlight is the reason for the look. Sun was behind the mountain and highlighting the branches.

I really like this shot Rick, especially the larger version. Nice comp and the color cast works well here.
The fence might put it in the Man and Nature catagory.

A lovely shot of the backlit old cottonwoods. Worth waiting on the light for!

Rick,
Gotta love these old cottonwoods. Great job recognizing the lighting situation. I think trees look great and stand out well with the shadow bg. I might be tempted to burn down the foreground a bit. I'm kinda torn as to whether or not the brightness hurts the image. But I like the bottom as a base. Cropping the bottom out is an option as well, but you would end up having to clone out the fence posts.
Speaking of the fence, Bruce is right - I'll be moving this to the Man & Nature gallery after posting my comment here. Hope you understand and feel free to send a note to any of the moderators ifyou have any questions.
Thanks for posting!

Rick,
This is a very nice and interesting shot. The contrast between the back lit branches and the detail in the trunks is amazing. Very well done.

Love the high key, almost B&W sepia nature of these beautiful tress Rick. I agree with Lon on darkening the foreground a bit. It does serve as a good anchor but does have a tendency to take attention away from the trees being lighter than the trees themselves.
