Green Jay

Green Jays are found primarily in Mexico and South America, but make their way into the southern-most extreme of Texas. They are very common there, but still a very beautiful bird.

I liked the side-lighting here, the dark tree-trunk BG, and the pose showcasing it's beautiful red eye.

I, too, like the dark background and the lighting on the bird as well as the pose of the bird, as well as the detail that can be seen in the larger version.

Nicely done Sandy - the lighting makes the shot for me. Nice colors against that dark background.

These are one of my favorites. Nice representation of their colors against the dark background.
