Great Sand Dunes
by Bill Leggett
I've always been fascinated by the sensuality of these dunes: the color, sometimes subtle and sometimes striking, but always memorable. The day I was there it was generally cloudy, but at times the sun peeked through to show the beauty of the dunes in a different light. As many of you know, under cloudy conditions it can look rather drab, and when the popcorn clouds pass over, it can look quite different, at times rather surreal. This was sort of an in between lighting conditions, so I thought I would crop for a somewhat abstract look, but keeping a bit of reality in the frame. Ther were a few people on the dunes, but I found a spot untouched by the inevitable footprints. About a 60% crop from original. Larger image included.
