Something a bit different than the dramatic/surreal twilight images I've been posting here..

Corn lilies at Mount Rainier. Spent a few days there in August, and the mountain was completely socked in for the first 5 sunrises/sunsets - so this is what Alex Mody, Jeremy Cram, and myself did one overcast day.

Nikon D7000, Nikkor 12-24mm
Single exposure: f/13, ISO 200, 1/40, 24mm

Its good to change it up every now and then. I think you might need a CPL.

Very nicely done. The droplets and flowers makes it stand out from other shots of corn lilies I've seen.

Are you sure you didn't shoot this at twilight   Nice shot Alex, I like the darkness of the scene and the rain drops on the corn lilies is nice.

Very nice, Alex. The flowers add a great contrasting element.

Very strong in composition. I bet this works as great as a bw image.

Wonderful light and contrast Alex. I also like your comp and the placement of the white flowers in the frame.

Can't seen to go wrong with corn lilies! The light is excellent here, and the flowers add a beautiful touch.

A delicate and powerful shot. Wonderful balanced comp, the vignettes really highlight the flowers and leaves. Well done!

Thanks, peeps.

Gary, I had thought I wanted a CPL for this shot, but really I think it only would have helped with those drops in the center-right farther leaves. I did have to spend some time taming highlights and infusing them with color, but I think the end result is similar to what a CPL would have provided. I only have one shot in my portfolio where I REALLY needed one and didn't have it - I'll post that next, maybe.

Stuart, I don't watch out for anyone's pet peeves but my own. I just shoot what I want to shoot.

A bit too "crunchy". Soften the sharpness and it's there IMHO....

Matt, I don't see any sharpening artifacts or aliasing (are you sure you're viewing at 100%?), but the full/print version is softer anyway.
