American Redstart

It's been a few since I last posted-a combination of work and various other distractions that have kept my from shooting. But last weekend I had an opportunity to join a group of birders on Monhegan Island, Maine in hopes of capturing the Fall migration. The weather was absolutely deplorable, but the birds were abundant-here an American Redstart.

Thanks for looking.

Nice crisp image Chuck. Very nice dof, any tighter and it would probably show. Lighting is optimal and the plain background works.

That was a rather high ISO choice and I believe I am seeing noise. I'm one of those types that noise doesn't bother too much.

Over all, a good image and you have my congratulations!

Hey Chuck, interesting pose with the tail-spread and I like how well isolated the bird is from the branches. I also like your composition. Yes, there's some noise but I don't think you could have pulled off this shot this well without the ISO you used.

Very nice pose and composition. This is a typical view of the species with the tail spread to show the color. I'm not bothered by the bit of noise showing, either - it was necessary to shoot this at high ISO and the noise is an acceptable tradeoof to get the shot IMO.

Nice pose and beautiful colors. Excellent detail and I like the water drops on the head.

Very nice capture of classic Redstart behavior in difficult conditions. The noise is minimal for the conditions, and the tiny water drops in the cobweb more than balance it.

Great pose, Chuck. A bit of noise evident in the larger version, but given the circumstances, not bad at all.

I like the pose and look from the Redstart. The background add a nice touch to the composition, way to go.

Nice image. I like the spread tail giving a great look at the end plumage on the bird. Perch is interesting. The colors are good against the muted background. Maybe some overall brightening and I would work on the background noise.

This is a ornito classic with pose, perch, composition and BG. And the web adds value. TFS.
