Hi Charlie! Isn't that one beauty of a Mule Deer? I like the pose, surrounding habitat, detail and lighting. Those slight shadows don't bother me at all and seem to add to the 'mood' of the scene. I like it!

Nicely captured, Charlie. Very nice detail, great exposure, and good comp. Nice palette of browns with a few pieces of green snuck in here and there. Good pose and catchlight.

Pretty little subject Charlie. The deer doesn't seem too concerned about your presence, and that's a good thing. A couple of things on my wish list for this one, the lack of a catchlight in the eye and the slight brightness of light reflections off the leaves in the background, shouldn't be too difficult to tame those highlights a little bit. I really like the soft bed of colorful leaves that gives a strong sense of time and esthetics to the image.

Your choices made for a good exposure, but the busyness of bright leaves and random grass stems are a minor distraction. The mood is pleasing and relaxed, however!

I'm pretty sure she is a doe. Close by was a spike buck that looked about her age and might have been a littermate.
