Icon Alert!

Was leading a workshop in Grand Teton and this guy in the foreground had staked his claim before the color started and before I arrived on scene. First reaction was to try and find a composition without him in the frame but after a few shots I decided to keep his silhouette and recognized the depth and scale he added to the landscape. Just had to frame up the scene and wait for him to get into the "photographer pose"...

Would like to hear your thoughts!

I couldn't see anyone in the picture until I read there was one and looked for him. He just looks hunched over. I can't really see he's a photographer. If you're including him for effect, I'd like to see more of him - his full silhouette against the reflection. There appears to be some halos between ridges. The highlights in the clouds at the very top draw attention to the edge of the image. I'd burn them down a stop or so.

Thanks for the bit of constructive criticism. Definitely can tell he's a photographer in the larger image (tripod, leaning forward etc.) Understand it may be hard to tell in the small web version. Agree with you regarding the clouds on the left.

Very cool image! Good thinking with the including the guy. Otherwise it is an amazing sunset with the reflection.
