Strong winds at sunset, St Mary's Lake, Glacier NP. This was taken a couple days before the first snowfall of the season last week. Two exposures to control highlights, Nikon D800, 14-24mm, f/18, 1/13s. Thanks for looking!

Beautiful capture! The way air is hazy and filtering the hills adds much to the feeling that we are in this place participating in the high winds and last beats of the sun. Perfect shutter speed to freeze the motion yet show spray and action too. Lovely light.

Lovely dramatic light Chris. Great to see something a little different from here. You can tell this is a windy place by looking at the trees on the shoreline. Nice work!

Beautiful image - a lot of really nice elements and the duel blend worked well. I'm not crazy about the spray over the rock though as it's a bit distracting to me

Great angle - I don't know that the wind ever lays down in this location. I love the sun star, the inclusion of the trees to the left, and the spray off the rock. Well captured! :toast:

Great drama and mood in this scene, Chris. The fleeting light and the wave action on the lake work beautifully together. I really like what you have done here.

Lovely picture and a novel look at St. Mary's lake. Congrats on both. That splash over the rock is a terrific catch and it's positioned perfectly for the two bare trees on the shore.

Beautiful picture. Great timing on catching the sun right before it would have disappeared.

Very pretty. I think the splash over the rock captures movement. Are the light rays from a filter or software editing? My guess is software.

Thanks for the comments. The light rays were present in the RAW file (there was smoke in the air all week), I did some minimal dodging to bring them out.

A beautiful shot Chris and lovely processing. Love the highlights on the waves and trees. The sky color seems a bit unusual.. a little too dark and purple somehow.

Some nice drama and appealing golden tones here. I have a slight preference for a smaller sunstar, particularly given the proximity to the edge of the frame.

Thanks. I did notice the sky was off, I guess I didn't correct it properly. Here is a reworked version, with a more accurate color balance and brightness, I think.

Repost is spot-on the sky was my only nit. Great light on the beach rocks and trees on the left. The spray off the rock and the sun rays are great punctuations to the image. Also nice to see a fresh composition from this location.
