Yellow Rose

This is my first Flora post. I took this a few years ago in a garden in California. I like the selective focus and the way the rose is hanging over instead of the traditional upright flower shot. This one of a pair that were together. I have a shot of the two as well but like this one a little better.

Canon Rebel XTi, 200L Prime, hand-held, no filters, 1/500S, f4.0, iso 100. Single image, shot in .jpg (before I knew about .raw)

All comments welcome and encouraged.

Brad, this is a Strong first post in flora (sorry, couldn't resist ). Seriously, it's very artisitc and moody thanks to the drooping flower, water drops, and background wash. Well composed to catch the wash in the bg. I have a couple very minor suggestions. First, you can clone out the small brown spots on the rose. I know there are different schools of thought on cloning minor natural imperfections, but given the artistic look of this, I would. Second, I am not sure about the the dark border since the right side of the image blends with the border. Otherwise, this looks great. thanks for posting. :toast:

Very natural rose, though I think, like Scot, that depending on your own wishes some blemishes could be gone easily.

Brad:
Welcome to Flora! Don't pay any attention to Scott's humor but he does give very good critiques.

A moody image with the drooping rose. The drops look great and nice yellow wash in the bg. Look forward to seeing more of your post here.

Thank you for the comments. Humor is fine. I'm guilty of making those type of jokes myself. I made a revision with the worst of the brown spots repaired. I also cloned out the yellow petal in the upper left while I was at it.

I like this a lot. The out of focus yellow spot in the background makes it look like the rose is exhaling it's perfume.

I generally prefer classic upright poses for roses. I guess I'm a traditionalist.

Brad - Welcome to the Flora Gallery !!!

Really like the drooping into the frame composition - with water drops adding some additional interest. Very good call on the petal in the ULC and cloning out the brown spots. You made a good shot great !.
