Moonlit Adirondack Fall

My previous star shots were on moonless nights, so this one was a learning experience. It seems the moon actually lights up the sky -- not just the clouds and earth. I could see the clouds clearly from the shore near my campsite, but the camera saw the sky better, since human eyes are not very color-sensitive in low light. To make this look more like I saw it, I took down some of the brightness and saturation. Of course, that makes it hard to see in a bright room, but that's a problem I have not learned to solve and still make it look like night.

Canon 5D2; 14mm.
25 sec. @ f/8; ISO 1250
(surprisingly bright, since this was 4 hours after sunset)

I think you did a fine job with the exposure, and overall look to the scene. The streaking clouds line up perfectly. I always have trouble deciding on the proper look for an image like this, also.

Ooh, this a great Wayne. It may be a learning experience but looks like you were pretty successful. I really like the moonlight as it lights up the colorful trees, the clouds, and the lake. You even got a reflection! Interesting clouds and wonderful stars. A keeper in my book.

very nice Wayne, i like the mood in this shot

maybe the FG a little bit darker and need more exposure to bring out the details

It looks really great, especially the sky. I love seeing the stars, clouds, and blue sky while not too bright. I wish I could see a little more in the lower part of the image.

I agree about the exposure and the feel that this is a night shot. Very well done! Outstanding clouds and fog to add to the effect, too.

Spot on, IMO. I'm really really enjoying this image. I like how you kept the shadows, naturally dark, yet holding a touch of detail.

Pretty scene, and I think there is enough detail in the shadows to make this work very nicely. Another beauty Wayne. Well done.
