Olympus E-5. 300mm x 1.4TC, braced in truck window
f5, 1/3200, ISO400

Antelope Island, Utah, with Ron and Mia. I'm curious if folks find the background distracting. Shallower depth of field left part of the bird soft.

Full frame. Usual sharpening drill.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Background looks just fine to me, I prefer seeing a little something of substance as opposed to something flat. I like the pose and detail on most of the bird. The tail feathers look slightly soft to my eyes. Just my opinion. A nice comp overall!

No problem with the BG for me, Jim. I do see the softness you mentioned, but also not a problem. Next time try 6.3!

Well done, they seemed rather shy to me. Like the colors , BG is slightly distracting, but since it was there.... The overall image looks fine to me - cheers, Hans

I like the BG as presented here. Very nice natural colors that also compliment the subject.

Nice comp Jim. Rocks with brown grass always seem to work for me.

I actually like the background and do not find it distracting. It would of been nice to not have the branches on the bottom lower left but a nice full frame shot, way to go.
