River Fog Sunrise
by Brad Strong
I took this Saturday morning after almost not going out at all due to the lack of clouds. I headed out to one of my favorite river spots, but the river was fogged out. I went around the corner, and this was waiting for me. I actually missed the twilight at this location because I shot a little while in a nearby location when I noticed the ground fog in the distance.
This is a 3 exposure blend (LR plugin) for dynamic range. Although the middle exposure would have resulted in an acceptable image, I wanted to try blending. I think this result is very natural and represents what I saw. I originally darkened the foreground hay field, but I wanted to get some comments on it this way first.
All comments are welcome as always. I am interested in feedback about the lens flare in the image. Blending the images added only a little to what is present in the middle exposure. I burned it down some and reduced saturation directly over it. I don't mind it as it is a common photographic phenomenon. I doubt it would clone out well.

3 commentsI like this very much. What a very nice quiet rural morning landscape (of course the hay bails contribute here.) The only suggestion I have would be a 1/3 to no more than 1/2 crop of the sky. A little less sky brings better balance between the sky and the grassy field. As far as the flare goes, I didn't notice it right off actually and I kinda agree with you . It comes with the territory shooting directly in to the sun. Not a bother for me.
Great job on the blend btw - can't even tell.
