Eagle Breakfast

Bayou Pier near Brooksville Florida

1/2000 at f8 and ISO 640
Canon 500mm with 1.4 TC
Canon 7D

I was setup today to get a Kingfisher when I saw him hovering off the pier on Sunday. Eagles have have been returning but I had not seen them fishing off the pier when I heard a big splash.

The shot is almost full frame with some cropped off the right and a horizontal crop would work.

Moments like this make photography fun

Well done. I like the detail and the "wings up" position.

A heart pounding moment indeed and handled well Scott,
No matter how many times you get an opportunity like this, it is always exciting and makes all the not so good days worth while. The detail is excellent and you have a good balance between the whites and darks. The water still dripping off the fish and the closed nictitating membrane of the Eagle’s eye are a nice touch. Well Done.

Nice flight posture and light Scott. I especially like the tail spread. I agree that the membrane is over the eye.

Well taken!! Like everything about this image, although I would like to see abit more space in front of the eagle. Thanks for sharing.

Definitely one of those moments to remember and that'll be easy with this super comp Scott. Nice lighting, detail and flight pose with that fish in tow make for a wonderful image! The sky even looks natural!

I like the body/wing position of the more recent eagle shot you posted but this is awesome too. Well done Scott.
