Another Buck

Back to the local nature area this morning. Started out just before sunrise and met up with this fella a short time later. No sun had broken through the tree line yet so this was not particularly well lit. He was very cooperative and let me fire away to my hearts content. No a perfect image but I'm fairly pleased with it. I cropped it down to about 75% of FF to better balance the comp. Warmed it up a bit as well. I hoping the bucks will soon start to show interest in the does and I can see some different behaviors from this herd of black-tailed deer. Comments and critiques welcome and appreciated.

How about " The Buck Stops Here" I would like fo see this fellow in some brighter light. It would bring out the colors and detail. I like the tall grass habitat. :toast:

What a pose this guy's givin' ya! Love the head on look! I agree with Charlie about the light, but there's truly nothing you could do about that! I hope to see more of this guy.

IMHO you have nice detail considering the light you were working with. I do think it is a bit tight on top and could use more space above the deer. Hope you get a chance at this guy in nicer light. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Peter,

I tend to agree with the others on the lighting on this one - looks on the flat side on my monitor. To me it does feel a little tight on top as well - the pose of the buck - and its orientation to you - put this one in the borderline zone with respect to the horizontal vs. vertical capture question. But definitely a fine specimen and worthy of your efforts. Hopefully the light gods will smile upon you when you find this guy next time!

Cheers...
