Playing by the Rules

I'm not a big fan of rules but this image just seems to be loaded with them; rule of thirds, use of diagonal lines, repetitive shapes, simplified color palette. I had sooo much fun with this. Let me know if you see any other 'rule' here. Thanks for looking

I don't know what to say about this as far as a detailed critique goes. I confess, I don't even know some of the rules, but I can say I enjoy looking at this. If the rules contribute to that, great! Since I have never studied art, my critiques are based mostly on how an image makes me feel, and this makes me feel happy. Maybe it's because it reminds me of happy times I have had enjoying real scenes like this, and maybe it has something to do with the rules of photography or art. But if somebody says you broke a rule or two in this image, my answer would be that the fact that I enjoy it trumps any other rules. As far as I am concerned, the most important rule for any visual art is "if it looks good, it is good." This looks good.

The bubbles are nice and the three of them make a nice composition, but this isn't as interesting as your other abstract shots of a stream.

Love the bubbles! The bright triangle in the llc bothers me but I can't say why... Maybe because it's sharply demarcated where the other transitions of colors are blended? Think I'd clone out the flecks. After that I see how much fun you could have with this. The bubbles are mesmerizing.

You know Nancy, I dont think anyone could put it any better than Wayne, my thoughts exactly, but he expresses his feelings alot better than me. I like this, and it does have a cheery mood. Very nice indeed.
