Fall foliage is abound during a glorious and classic Shenandoah National Park sunrise, with the diffused sun filling light in the hazy blue rolling hills.

Nikon D800, Nikon 14-24, two exposures at f/11 blended for dynamic range.

Navin, This is very nice. Great color and drama in the sky. I'm not sure what that yellow and orange spot is, but it looks like it would be best to clone it out to me. It looks a little oversaturated to me as well. There is some haloing behind the trees on the left where the sky is behind them. It may be natural from the haze, but I thought I'd mention it.

Hi Brad, thanks for your comment. It is the sun (but very small I know)... I think I'll keep it in as it's shape and color is characteristic of the Shenandoah Valley.

Lovely colors and sunset! My only nit is the sun, which looks strange to me with the red ring around it. It has the same brightness as the clouds around it, looks like you pulled back the highlights a bit too much. Otherwise, perfect shot.

Great view. I find the cyan band through the middle of the foliage a little distracting but that might my monitor more than anything. As your title says, a classic fall foliage image. Nicely captured

You framed a drop dead gorgeous sunset very, very nicely here. I agree with cloning out the sun as it's shape and color is more characteristic of a burn hole and is a distraction rather than a complement.

Navin,
This is a beautiful capture and very dynamic. The colors look very natural on my monitor. I knew the spot was the sun and my first response was ‘distracting’, before I read any other comments. The sky you have pictured stands very well all by itself and is an outstanding feature of this photo. I never thought I would ever give advice to “Clone out the Sun” but I do believe it would improve your post. Your gallery is very impressive as is this capture .

Thanks for the comments everyone. Seems like everyone thinks the sun is a distraction! Good feedback.

I did drop the sat just slightly in the foreground (especially the cyan - thank you Sandy). Please check the link above or here: LARGE

Any other comments very much appreciated!

I agree with the other comments about the sun. But ... maybe it wouldn't look as unexpected in a large print. Otherwise this is a very appealing composition. I'd only suggest cropping it down to more of a pano, sacrificing the less colorful clouds at the top to maximize the impact of the beautiful intense color.

A wonderful eastern U.S. fall scenic, Navin. The colors are brilliant. I concur with others on
their feelings regarding the sun. Nevertheless, this is awesome.

Excellent comp and colors here Navin. I agree with the others that the sun looks a bit strange..I think it's the red "halo" around the sun that isn't working for me. Also the brighter area on the horizon to the right of the sun doesn't quite look right to me. I would consider burning the highlights down in that area to make it match the rest of the sky in that area. With a few adjustments, I think this will be an amazing image!

Very nice colors. I like the intensity of the sunset clouds and how it's matched by the foliage.
