This fellow was relaxing in a tree, I didn't see him the first time I passed that tree. Tulum Mayan Ruins in Mexico January 2012.
7D, 1/100sec, f8, ISO 200, @85mm Handheld, cropped from the left and a little off the top.

Thank you for viewing

Good shot for the difficult lighting conditions. I wonder why you cropped on left and top, was there something distracting in the photo? If not, I would give him a bit more space to look at
Grtz, Ingrid.

I can understand why you missed him on first pass, I didn't see him in the thumbnail either. Nice demonstration of camo in nature. I like the detail and general composition you chose. Excellent!

Thank you for your comments. I cropped the image because I wanted all the focus to be on the Iguana and I thought the surrounding branches made it a bit too busy and would distract from the actual subject.

Hi Guy,

OK - I counted and only saw 42 shades of grey - aren't there supposed to be 50?

Tough light, but you handled it quite well. The patchy/dappled lighting here works well with the banding on the reptile to enhance its camouflage. If this were mine I'd probably crop even a little more off the top - what's up there isn't adding a whole lot to the image and the subject matter would support a pano-like crop.

I've been Tulum and had some fun with these guys...they're fun to photograph.

Cheers...

Brad
