A Few of My Favorite...

...things to just sit and watch.

- Golden tamaracks in morning light
- Snow clinging to fall leaves
- Low clouds clinging to the mountains
- Sunshine and shade interspersed on the landscape

I got up at 4:30 AM to find new snow on the fall leaves, and I ended up finding all these things. This was a kind of quiet joy that is difficult to explain. I hope the photos I posted this week help explain how thankful I am to be alive and able to get to places like this.

This shot is part of one of the 6-frame panoramas I shot before the clouds lifted to reveal the scenes in my previous two posts. My primary objective for the day was those sweeping mountain panoramas, but I'm glad the low clouds helped me remember the beauty of this valley. Thanks for you comments, suggestions and encouragement.

Please see larger version.

Wow, Wayne, you struck gold this morning. This is incredible. I like it all, but especially the painterly look of the distant hills in the larger version. :toast:

Wayne, This is beautiful. The DOF the contrasting forground colour. It just draws you in. We're glad you're alive and finding places like this to show us too. I feel I get better as a photographer just by looking at your work. lol...if that makes any sense. (I guess you show me what to strive for in a shot. :jump: :toast:

:toast: This one maybe the best of the group, or, at least so far. A real beauty. This has a super nice beam of light in the MG area, Wayne. Which seems to help illuminate the entire scene out to the edges. Heck, even the blue is much tamer in this image too...

Jackpot for this day! You managed to catch the great light in all of the right places. With such a vista, you have many crop options and the resolution to create intimate views out of the big view. I understand the excitement you must have had when such conditions create these opportunities, and of course you were able to experience it rather than still sleeping! Geat job once again. :toast:

Superb, Wayne. This is worth rising at 4:30. I like the colors throughout and the FG textures.
The light is superb. Well composed, following the rule of thirds. A nice mystical mood.
Thanks for sharing.

Wayne,

I know I haven't commented on any of your other images from this series - I guess I'm saving the best for last! This is gorgeous! I love the mix of fresh snow and color dispersed throughout the entire scene. Beautiful light and nice drama in the clouds, yet not overpowering. This is all about the dusting of snow and of course the seasonal transition. Just wonderful.

This may not be a wide panorama, but it sure is beautiful with the combination of snow, fall colors, and the spot lit river valley. Terrific!
