Textured Wood Lily

Thanks for the monthly theme Marc - this was fun to try!

The original is a wood-lily (which I'll post below), the texture was a rusted metal image downloaded from the internet. Ended up using 6 layers in CS6 with various blend-modes (alternating 3 layers each of the flower and texture). The lowest flower layer was enlarged slightly and drop-shadow added.

After that I played around in my trial version of NIK color-efex and ended up using 5 of their filters: bleach bypass, white neutralizer, detail extractor, vignette lens and image border.

Had to save this as a fairly low-quality jpeg, hope the compression isn't too bad.

Thanks for looking and any comments.

Well done, Karen. I like the texture of the background. The background petals help separate the main flower from the rest of the image.

Karen, this is lovely! It looks like a painted wood cut.

Beautiful image, Karen. The background petals and the drop shadow give a nice sense of depth.

Karen,

The wet lily on the metal texture gives a great juxtaposition. I might have liked to see a drop shadow that was a bit tighter and darker, but this is very well done.

Karen:
You have invested a lot of time on this image and the outcome is really good. The bg petal provides nice transition from the flower to the bg. :toast:

Wonderful transformation of the original, Karen ! This now looks like a very attractive tile - beautifully patterned in subtle tones.
