Nikon D700, Nikon 200mm micro f4, 1/125s @ f22, ISO 400

Another one from my fav Butterfly site, Magdalen Hill Down near Winchester UK, these are about in April and May but not many around this year as the bad spring really hit them hard.

Absolutely STUNNING, Ian. The color palette just is so pleasing, and the details in the Hairstreak are amazing. I would put this on my wall. The larger version should really be viewed by all to appreciate the beauty and technicals of this shot.

Beautiful BF, Ian, well displayed. It does feel a bit over sharpened.

Excellent pose, comp, and subject detail, Ian. The light really brings out the striking colors in the wings. :toast:

Thanks for all the comments.

Phil, hardly any sharpening at all, the problem with these critters is they only sit still in bright sun shine and the scales on their wings are very reflective which looks like over sharpening.

Cheers

Ian

Terrific detail in the butterfly. What a glowing set of greens and the details in the antennae add a bit extra. Very well done.
