Rockport, TX. October, 2012

D4 ISO 300. 300/2.8 with 2x tc. f8 1/1600s. -0.3ev. Handheld.

I don't see these guys up on land that often. I like how the lifted foot showcases the pontoon feet.

Very good, Angela. Don't often get this good a look at these on land. This is a great portrait. You got the exposure right since there is lots of detail in the dark plumage, yet the lighter colors are not blown out particularly the bill. Yeah, those feet are kind of funky but they certainly work for them.

Agree with Peter on the detail and the bill. Learned something new about Coot feet too :wavey:

Excellent exposure and pose. I also appreciate the low angle and the great look at the lobed feet. IMO, the bird needs more room up top.

Yes, a little more room on top... but never did a Coot look so good. Great dof. Well done, Angela. :toast:

Like that you got detail in the blacks and the whites -- nice work -- and oh the size of those feet --

Nice to get one fully out of the water as they have the strangest looking web feet. Very nice detail on the larger image and nice job of handling the black/white contrast, well done.

Love the raised foot and exposure Angela, maybe a little bit lower angle if possible. :toast:

Those feet are amazing. The larger version is awesome, great detail. Not sure if you had it but a tiny bit more room on top would be nice, a minor nit though. :toast:
