Eek! I've been so busy this week, I almost missed spider week!

For some reason, this spider (fam. Pisauridae I think -- Arachnologists please correct me if I'm wrong) seems to look rather sleek and elegant to me as it dines on the hapless fly. (Kind of an awkward composition, but I thought it was important to get in close because I like the details, like the hair on the carapace.)

Canon 50D
Sigma 150 mm. Macro
1/100 sec. @ f/8; ISO 400
Tripod; Daylight and gold/silver reflector

I like that Wayne, and more. The lighting is especially good for this shot and detail all over the spider is great. From the skeletal remains in the crotch of that stem it appears that your spider has had regular meals.

Wayne:
Really like the gold and silver light reflected on this beauty. The pose striding the base of the leaf stem is very interesting. Excellent capture. :toast:

What an interesting looking spider, Wayne. Sleek? I agree. Elegant? Well, sort of. He does look neat and tidy, if anything can look neat and tidy while eating a fly. I like the superb light and I like clean look at the action. The tan spider stands out very well from the contrasting green shades. Thanks for joining spider week. We've had a nice cross section of spider species, and it was good to get another. :toast:
