Autumn Squall

While the foliage was not quite peak, I headed up Mount Major in NH's Lakes Region when the forcast called for some bad weather. I captured a pretty cool snow squall heading my way, just about to cross Lake Winnipesaukee. Within 10 minutes of this shot, I had difficulty standing due to the high winds, pretty great to feel the power of nature. I did zoom in for another tight shot of the squall too.

2 exposures: 1 @ f16 ISO 800, processed 2x for DR; 1 @ ISO 2500 that was selectively blended for the mid-ground evergreen trees, as they were waving around in the wind and were pretty blurred in the ISO 800 shot. I left some of the FG soft from the wind, but the steady wind kept them pretty much in the same position.

I did return about a week later for better foliage, but no cool storm. Comment/suggestions welcome.

After uploading, it seems that the image suffers from a lack of contrast in the far mnts, the original has a bit more contrast.

Wow, the fg grass really makes me feel the wind. Quite a contrast to the peaceful scene in the distance. Great light and colors.

I can definitely feel the wind here Harry but I really love the mix of gold and blue. The contrast works well as is for me.

Love the light and the sense of the windy conditions you encountered. Great work with the blending to retain the feel you wanted to convey.

There's really a grandeur here, nice to get lost in. It's hard to tell the winds were about to blow you off from this; it looks like a peaceful place to meditate awhile.

This is outstanding Harry. I really like the perspective here. The blowing grass, lake and snow storm really come together to create a compelling image. Well done.
