Cliff Dweller

Canon S2-IS
ISO 100, 1/320 @ f5

Just got back from a week in the Grand Canyon so I did precious little Flora shooting but could not pass up this tough little shrub growing on the cliff face along the trail to Bright Angel Point on the north rim of the canyon yesterday morning just minutes after sunrise. This was a great trip except for the last night when my trusty Sony A700 inexplicably and without warning started giving me a Camera Error message. My backup A100 didn't survive a fall/drop last year and I've procrastinated getting a backup since I'm aiming for an A77 in the next few months. At least I had the little Canon which is still a competent performer and I had my old Minolta M7 with which I shot five rolls of FILM!!. It was hilarious to watch people react when I was shooting it. I think most thought the winder was some kind of weird sound effect. It was actually kind of fun stepping back in time and I did have a stash of Velvia and Astia I've been hoarding for such a time as this. Now if I can only find someone to process it! All comments welcome. >=))>

Hi Bill
A cliff hanger shot!

Sound like you had a blast. Your landscape misty shot of the grand canyon is really terrific - hope you got that one on film as well. No more excuse for not pulling the trigger on the A77 - which has the same sensor as my new D600.

Hi Bill. :wavey: We missed your posts and comments, sorry to hear about your camera problems, and hope all the film taken will produce superb results  the tenacious shrub hanging on for dear life, in that narrow crevice is a moving scene well captured

I so enjoy seeing shots like this, Bill - plants are indeed extraordinary and this image beautifully demonstrates that.

Bill, I am selecting the photos taken in the Alps and this image is surely in the theme. I like the lines in the composition and the bit of mystery created by the shades under the plant. I love the photo.
Cheers.

Interesting shot showing the tenacity of life Bill. Interesting contrasts too. Nicely done.

Sorry to hear about your camera issues. :frown: Good luck finding someone to process your FILM.

An artist can use any camera, and you have proved that here, Bill. Very well done!

Sounds like you had a Blast from the Past. Good for you! I bet it brought back a lot of fond memories. Love the colors in this one.

I like the desolate feel of this Bill and the light. Great mood for my tastes.
